Med Designs

The studio

med designs was launched in 2007 with the intention to create spaces with a unique identity, defining the beauty between the space and the objects within it.

Eli is fully immersed in all aspects of design, from room layouts to placement of fixtures and fittings, soft furnishes and furniture. She draws her inspiration from both the past and the present, but in particular European influences and styles.

A self- confessed magpie, you will often find her scouring vintage and antiques stores and a myriad of other sources to find that perfect piece.

Handmade ceramics, whimsy textiles, prints and woven materials are a common occurrence in her spaces and always with an element of nature.

Most recently, Eli has moved in the direction of intuitive design, that considers the natural environment, otherwise known as Biophilic Design. This philosophy is all about bringing the outdoors in to emphasise our human connection to the natural world. We incorporate things like daylight and ventilation, natural landscape features like water and plants and materials such as wood and stone to create a more productive and healthy environment for its inhabitants.

How we work

We focus on bringing authenticity to each project through thoughtful spacial planning, carefully curated lighting and soothing colour schemes. Eli believes in creating homes with soul through the use of playful shape, texture and form that comes from a love of textiles, second hand finds and interesting one -of- a -kind decorative objects.

Our focus lies within the parameters of what we see as a passing trend and what the space needs to achieve its maximum potential. Eli draws on her love of nature and gets her inspiration from the outdoors to create a home for you that is practical, comfortable and built to last.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Each home is designed to reflect each of those who live in it and who love and connect to the space. Throughout the design process we engage with each client to understand their objectives and develop a space that is personal and unique to them.

The history and character of the building is carefully considered as well as the environment and surrounding buildings. We love to work on homes from all periods and we are always looking to create a home that is balanced and in harmony with the modern world.

Homes are not just places we live in, they are the foundation of who we are and what we love. We are, at heart, linked to nature and the living world, so it would only make sense that our spaces reflect these connections in order to foster our health and wellbeing.
